On 04.02.2020 the foundation stone for the construction of the Laboratory building "Centre for Life Science and Plasma Technology" was laid in the presence of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Besides the Federal Chancellor, the Minister of Economics of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Harry Glawe, was also present at the ceremony.

The new building complex is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. With a rentable area of around 5,500m² available to companies, it is expected to create around 240 new jobs.
