Opening Schwanthalerhöhe Munich
Our project team finally celebrated the opening of the Schwanthalerhöhe shopping centre in Munich on june 6th 2019.
The revitalisation of Theresienwiese was carried out by Hanseatische Betreuungs- und Beteiligtengesellschaft (HBB) and the general contractor Züblin.
Statically challenging were the evaluation of the conversion measures and the assessment of the existing building, as well as the resulting repair and renovation measures.
The shopping centre is located below a high-rise building in three blocks. This housing development was not touched by the measure.
There are three levels on a total area of 40,000 square metres on which 90 shops invite you to shop. In addition, visitors can view the artwork "Dancing Mirrows" by
Sebastian Hepting from the design team of Ingo Maurer. A kinetic installation with 24 highly polished stainless steel balls hanging from the ceiling, forming an arc in the longitudinal axis.
Once an hour the work of art starts to move and the pendulums begin to oscillate. Thus the Pendulums play one of the newly created airspaces and follow with dynamic ease the same physics as solid construction does.
